Cognitive Behavior Therapy-Insomnia (CBT-I)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) is an effective well researched based treatment for Insomnia. The results show improvements of sleep 50% or more in just 6-8 weeks. The program is as effective as sedative hypnotics (sleep aids) and much longer lasting. This is a non-medication approach to your insomnia.

How it works? There is an initial assessment to provide a good clinical profile and to provide evidence needed to determine if there is an undiagnosed or unstable medical or psychiatric illness. The most common cognitive–behavior therapies for chronic insomnia are: stimulus control, sleep restriction, sleep hygiene, relaxation training and cognitive therapy. This therapy (CBT-I) will include three or more of these components. Sessions last 30-90 minutes depending on the stage of treatment and the degree of patient compliance. Sessions generally shorten has they progress. This is an 8 week program and the last two sessions are devoted to maintaining wellness and what to do if there is a relapse.
